Robert F. Labadie, MD, PhD, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, earned his bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from the University of Notre Dame, his doctor of medicine and a doctorate in bioengineering from the University of Pittsburgh, and completed his residency training at UNC-Chapel Hill. He joined the faculty at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2001 and completed a master's of management in health care in 2013. He is currently professor and vice chair/chief research officer in the Department of Otolaryngology with a joint appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. His clinical specialty is otology. Dr. Labadie is the author of more than 100 peer-reviewed papers, has presented his research nationally and internationally, and has ongoing NIH support to study image-guided otologic surgery including cochlear implantation. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, American Otological Society, American Neurotology Society, and Triological Society.
