Eugene N. Myers
Dr. Myers is Distinguished Professor and Emeritus Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is internationally recognized as a leader in the field of head and neck surgery. He was Principal Investigator of the Oral Cavity Cancer Center of Discovery sponsored by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIH). This was funded for $11,000,000 over a 5-year period.
Dr. Myers served as President of the American Board of Otolaryngology, the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the American Society of Head and Neck Surgery, the American Laryngological Association and the Pan American Association of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinborough and the National Societies of 20 countries.
Dr. Myers served as Coordinator for International Affairs of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and was International Editor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the AMA Archives of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Head and Neck, and 13 international journals. Cancer of the Head and Neck (4th ed, Elsevier) coauthored with James Y. Suen, MD is considered a classic in the field. He is co-editor of the book Salivary Gland Disorders (Springer) with Robert L. Ferris, MD, PhD. He is also Editor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (2nd ed, Elsevier).
