ABOUT THE BOOKS
Although tinnitus is a common international problem, often clinicians find they are unsure of how to treat their tinnitus patients. These two volumes are the first clinical resources for clinicians to provide exact procedures for clinical administration of Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT). The first volume (Clinical Guidelines) is suitable both for clinicians who conduct TRT and as a textbook for academic training programs. The second volume (Patient Counseling Guide)—designed to be used one-on-one with tinnitus (and hyperacusis) patients—is a double-sided resource with information for the clinician on one side and patient information on the other. Anyone who is interested in providing tinnitus management with TRT will find this pair of books immensely useful, practical, and resourceful.

After 8 years at Yale University and 8 years at the University of Maryland, where he established the Tinnitus & Hyperacusis Center, Dr. Jastreboff moved to Emory University in January 1999 to continue for research and patient treatment. In 1988, on the basis of research on the physiological mechanisms of tinnitus Dr. Jastreboff proposed a neurophysiological model of tinnitus and Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT). He has also created an animal model of tinnitus, and his present research is aimed at delineating the mechanisms of tinnitus and designing new methods of tinnitus and hyperacusis alleviation. Dr. Jastreboff received a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and Doctor of Sciences Degree (Neuroscience) from the Polish Academy of Science. He did his postdoctoral training in the University of Tokyo, Japan. Recently, he got an M.B.A. degree from Goizuetta Business School at Emory.
