Joseph Stemple, PhD
Leslie Glaze, PhD

The Quick Screen for Voice is designed for screening children in preschool through high school. Respiration, phonation, resonance, and vocal flexibility are tested in 5-10 minutes. The SLP responds to a checklist of observations made during spontaneous speech and other voicing tasks. The speaker fails the screening test if one or more disorders in production are found in any section. The Quick Screen successfully identified speakers with voice disorders in field tests of over 3000 children.

Also available is information about Functional Indicators of Voice Disorders for Children and Adolescents as well as a document called Your Child's Voice which was developed to help speech language pathologists educate the parent of a child identified with a voice disorder. Printable PDF on CD.
