About The Author

Carl Asp, Ph.D.

Carl W. Asp, Ph.D. has been a Professor of Audiology and Speech Pathology at the University of Tennessee for the past 38 years. He earned his doctorate at the Ohio State University and holds dual certification (CCC-A and CCC-SLP) in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Dr. Asps research began with a series of federally funded research projects to investigate and develop the Verbotonal Approach. He has worked closely with Professor Petar Guberina, who developed the method, to advance the understanding of this approach to habilitation and rehabilitation of children and adults who are hearing impaired. As Director of the Universitys Verbotonal Speech Science Laboratory, Dr. Asp has provided research information to educate graduate students and visiting professionals. For the past 40 years, he has served as a clinical consultant to a variety of clinics, schools, and universities throughout the world.
