David L. Irwin, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
Dr. Irwin has over 25 years of professional experience as a certified speech-language pathologist, specializing in working with children 0-5 years and their families. He is currently Professor and Head of the Department of Clinical Services at Louisiana State University and is Director of the Children’s Center. He holds an appointment as Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation and has responsibilities with Clinical Services within the School of Allied Health Professionals in the Master of Health Sciences graduate program. He is also the leader for the Autism Collaborative Research Group at LSUHSC.
Dr. Irwin has had experience teaching a wide range of courses, including language development, language disorders (birth to 21 years), and diagnostic methods, and has also directed numerous graduate research programs. He has over 85 national, regional, state, and local presentations and has presented at numerous conventions all over the nation. He established the program for speech pathology at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, Louisiana. His research interests focus on children and adolescents, ethics, and literacy development. Dr. Irwin is married and has two children.
